Public Room Creation Guidelines

Concept and Theme

At Silver Crossings a room can be based on nearly anything, be it a movie, a book, a RPG system, or even a creation of your own. We will consider nearly any concept as a possible one, however keep in mind that you stand a better chance of succeeding if your theme is not too close to that of another room on Silver Crossings.

Use of room and support of players

No room gets very far without players. For rooms starting out it's recommended that you have  2 or 3 ”regulars” (that is, people willing to play in your room reguarly) playing in your room. This shows us that your room has the support of players, something very important if you want your room to thrive.

Activity Requirements

While there is no hard and fast post minimum for a room, a post count of at least 200 posts per 24 hours is our goal for any room. In addition, the activity in the room of the hosts and moderators is a factor that weighs heavily upon any decision Silver Crossings makes.

Behavior Factors

Room hosts are the most seen figures of authority in Silver Crossings and we expect that they have proven themselves to be aware of the rules, and able to follow them. This means that the room host's prior actions on Silver Crossings will be considered and have an influence on the approval or denial of the application.

As a Room Owner (What's expected of a room owner)

Time

Hosts are expected to frequent their room, making themselves available to answer questions about their room, as well as to encourage the use of their room. Our suggested amount of time is at least 3 days a week, with moderators and/or greeters filling the gaps.

Rules

Hosts must enforce both their own room's rules as well as the rules of Silver Crossings -fairly-. This means that nobody gets to break the rules, no matter who they are.  We do respect our room owners and expect them to create reasonable rules for their rooms.  Once these rules are in effect, it is up to the hosts and staff of the room to uphold them.  SilverCrossings will not be held liable for what  takes place in your room, it is up to you to make sure the AUP  is enforced.

Communication

It's expected that a Host will communicate both within the room with their players as well as Moderators of what's going on, as well as communicate with the Administration of Silver Crossings about any concerns, problems or suggestions that they might have.  Silvercrossings  uses an active email group to alert all owners to news and updates.  Also, should you need to be away from the room for an extended period of time, we expect

SC Support (Things that you can expect from Silver Crossings when seeking a room)

Prompt Action on our Part

We will strive to answer all inquiries within 24 hours of receiving them whenever possible. Although Silvercrossings has a staff of 7 people, please remember that this is not their jobs, they each take time out of their real lives to support silvercrossings by donating their time to our server.

Fair Decisions

While we are people to, we will do our best to be objective about each application, without letting our opinion on the subject matter, or people involved becoming a factor.

Room Advertisement

Once a room achieves public status it will be listed upon our Room list on the from page, it's banner placed in rotation with those of the other rooms, as well as have the opportunity to have your room's events posted on the front page.

  • Room Name(normally also the Private Room you use) Genre, and a short description
  • Room Rating
  • Links to the room's web site and messageboard (if you have either)

If you're moving your room to Silver Crossings from a different chat, please let us know that, as well as what Chat you're moving from.  You might not need to do the private/hybrid thing.

Path To Public Status

Private to Hybrid. - 2 weeks of consistent use & posts (ie, 2 weeks over at or about 200 posts a day).  This is the time to let your friends know about your room, to obtain more chatters and learn the system.

Hybrid to Public. - Another 2 weeks of consistent posts, plus this is the time to set up your graphics and splashpage,  You'll have full control of your room at this point and will be able to assign moderators.

(these times and amounts are at the discrection of SilverCrossings staff, The amounts of time for a room to go public can vary)
